HISTORY OF MAMSS

The Michigan Association of Medical Staff Services (MAMSS), an affiliate of the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS), and the Michigan Hospital & Health Association, was officially established in 1979.  Bylaws were adopted and a group of four enthusiastic Medical Staff Professionals paved the beginnings of MAMSS.

As health care evolved, so has the MAMSS membership.  From four dedicated individuals in 1979, the association now has over 200 members in five regional chapters: Central Michigan, Mid-Michigan, Northern Michigan, Southeastern Michigan and Western Michigan.  Membership includes hospital and managed care medical management professionals as well as affiliate members in other medical disciplines.

The first educational seminar was held in 1980 in Ann Arbor.  Educational presentations, seminars, and certification preparation workshops continue on an annual basis.  Professional growth and education is MAMSS key mission.

It is only through the dedication and service of our members who have served as Presidents and board members, that MAMSS has been able to grow and remain committed to its mission.  To them, we say THANK YOU.
