Who We Are
The purpose of the Mississippi Association of Medical Staff Services is to provide a forum for educational activities at a local level. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for continuing education, to promote the improvement of professional knowledge and skills by uniting persons who are engaged in medical staff activities through our State Association, and to support the mission of the National Association of Medical Staff Services.
The association is composed of Medical Staff Coordinators; Directors/Managers of Medical Staff Services; Managed Care Professionals; Medical Staff Assistants; Administrative Assistants; Medical Staff Services Consultants; Credentialing Specialists; Health Information Managers; Risk Managers; and other individuals responsible for supportive services required for their facility to maintain its medical staff organization.

Our History
The Mississippi Association Medical Staff Services (MAMSS) was established in 1983 by a group of medical staff professionals representing the southern, central and northern areas of the state of Mississippi. The original association was active until 1986.
In 1994, Sharrie Entrekin was selected to replace a 38-year veteran of the medical staff services field at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Sharrie states, "I knew right away that I needed help." She began calling other medical staff professionals across the state to survey interest in reorganizing the MAMSS chapter. Those phone calls solidified the necessity for an active chapter and initiated the investment of time to re-develop this invaluable resource for medical staff professionals in the state of Mississippi.
The first meeting of the re-organized chapter was held at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, with approximately twenty-five medical staff professionals in attendance. Since that time, membership has grown, with a membership and/or communication area now with upwards of ninety hospitals, coordinators and managed care entities
